Château Moulin de Peyronin

This small, 30 acre estate of Château du Moulin de Peyronin has been in organic production since 1974, although the family that started the winery pioneered the sustainable agriculture movement as early as 1966 in their other vineyards in Languedoc, Domaine de Clairac.

The château is situated in the commune of Pujols in the eastern part of Gironde. Chateau Moulin de Peyronin’s vines encompass and surround a hilltop site where their “chateau”, cave and old windmill (or Moulin) are located, about 10 miles east of St Emilion. The hilltop soils provide good drainage and benefit from summer breezes that dry the vines on humid days as they once powered the windmill. They have Cab, Merlot, Malbec, Sauv Blanc & Gris, and Semillon planted on 30 acres. This area produces only wines bearing a Bordeaux label. The grapes grown include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Malbec for the red Bordeaux wines and Semillon for the white Bordeaux.  They are certified by Ecocert.
