Fasoli Gino Bardolino “La Corte del Pozzo”

DOC: Bardolino

65% Corvina, 30% Rondinella, 5% Molinara

Corte del Pozzo is the new range of quality wines made by the Fasoli Gino Estate.
The Corte del Pozzo range has been created to meet increased demand with the grapes being sourced externally and since the grapes come from different areas of Veneto, they have their own different characteristics.

For the Bardolino, rigorous hand harvesting begins in the second or third week of September and goes to the very end of the harvest. These are the same grapes which are used in the famous Valpolicella, but are grown in different areas – closer to Lake Garda on hills and morainic ground, which give the wine its own unique character. The grapes are pressed a short time after harvesting and fermentation takes place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks for approximately 15 days. After several filtrations, the wine is racked off again into steel tanks where it rests until it is bottled.

Generally this is a medium-weight wine, with a fresh, floral bouquet, which can be drunk in the spring following the harvest. It can be enjoyed after a relatively short spell in bottle.  This Bardolino is fresh and fruity, with a nice, spicy finish and pairs well with pasta w/red sauce, appetizers, grilled foods, and pizza.
